UK, Malaysia or China: how to choose where to study

A practical way to compare three popular destinations by cost, course length, culture and what comes after graduation.

Study6 min read

Choosing a study destination is one of the biggest decisions you will make, and the “best” country does not exist. The right country is the one that fits your budget, your goals and your situation. Here is a calm way to compare the three destinations we work with most.

Start with three honest questions

  1. What can your family realistically afford each year? Include tuition, living costs and the funds you must show for your visa.
  2. What do you want after graduation? Work experience abroad, a return to Bangladesh with an international degree, or further study?
  3. What will help you succeed day to day? Language, food, climate, distance from home and the community around you.

What the UK offers

The UK is known for globally recognised universities and shorter master’s degrees, which can save a year of living costs. It is also the most expensive option. Student visa applicants must show maintenance funds that, at the latest published rates we checked, were £1,171 per month outside London and £1,529 per month in London, for up to nine months, held for at least 28 days before applying. Check the current figures before you plan.

What Malaysia offers

Malaysia is often the best balance of cost and quality for Bangladeshi students. Many universities are international, teaching is largely in English, halal food is easy to find and the country is a short flight from Dhaka. It is a strong choice if you want a recognised degree without the highest costs.

What China offers

China has strong universities and growing options in English-taught programmes. It suits students who are curious, adaptable and happy to learn about a new culture. Language support and course availability matter more here, so planning early helps.
